Zuckerman Spaeder Receives CAIR Coalition’s Detained Children’s Champion Award

The Capital Area Immigrants’ Rights (CAIR) Coalition has honored Zuckerman Spaeder with its 2023 Detained Children’s Champion Award for the firm’s “remarkable efforts on behalf of immigrants.”

Since 2016, Zuckerman Spaeder has partnered with CAIR Coalition and supported its mission to provide high-quality legal and social services, advocate for meaningful policy changes, and work alongside immigrant children and adults who are at risk of deportation and detention.
Reflecting on this recognition, Zuckerman Spaeder’s Pro Bono co-chair Margarita K. O’Donnell says, “We are proud of our long-standing relationship with CAIR Coalition and the opportunities our attorneys have had to leverage their expertise to help children navigate complex immigration processes. We are deeply committed to exercising compassion in the pursuit of building just and inclusive communities.”

During the course of its relationship with CAIR, the firm has successfully represented clients in matters related to deportations, family court proceedings, immigration bail hearings, and Special Immigrant Juvenile Status, and assisted CAIR in preparing for appellate arguments. Zuckerman Spaeder extends its appreciation to the firm’s attorneys and staff who support this important work.

Zuckerman Spaeder and the other honorees will be celebrated during the Focused on Freedom Awards Ceremony & Reception on September 13, 2023 in Washington, DC.
