Zuckerman Spaeder LLP Tampa Office Expands

We are pleased to announce that Jack E. Fernandez has joined our Tampa practice as a partner. He will focus on civil, white collar criminal, and health care litigation.

Fernandez served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Florida from 1992 to 1998, where he investigated, tried, and argued appeals in numerous complex federal cases including health care fraud, espionage, arson, federal securities fraud, satellite signal privacy, and trade secrets. He also served on the U.S. Attorney's Health Care Fraud Task Force.

"Jack Fernandez is a highly respected and experienced litigator with a reputation for thorough and creative representation of clients," said Morris "Sandy" Weinberg, partner-in-charge of Zuckerman Spaeder's Tampa office. "His unique skills help further solidify the firm's presence here in Florida."

Fernandez earned his B.S. in chemistry from the U.S. Naval Academy and his J.D. from Cornell Law School, where he served as the editor in chief of the Cornell Law Review.

After his studies at the U.S. Naval Academy, Fernandez attended Navy flight training. He became a fighter pilot in Fighter Squadron Thirty Two, and his unit was awarded the Presidential Unit Citation, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, and the Navy Expeditionary Medal. In 1986, he was named Fighter Wing One Best Fighter Pilot for Air Combat Maneuvering.

He is currently a member of the Defense Research Institute, the Federal Bar Association and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. Fernandez also served on the 13th Judicial Circuit Grievance Committee from 1999 until 2001.
