Outstanding Pro Bono Service by a Law Firm, Thirteenth Judicial Circuit, 2014

On April 24, 2014, Zuckerman Spaeder LLP received the “Outstanding Pro Bono Service by a Law Firm” award from the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit Court’s Pro Bono Committee, H.A.V.E. A HEART, and the Bay Area Legal Services Volunteer Lawyers Program. The annual award recognizes one firm’s exceptional pro bono service to the Tampa community.

The firm has been engaged in a number of important pro bono efforts in Florida, including representing children in foster care for Crossroads for Florida Kids, Inc. in delinquency and dependency proceedings; representing migrant farmworkers who were denied wages for hours spent waiting in fields for dew to dry on tomatoes; investigating risks to voting rights following Florida Secretary of State Ken Detzner’s initiation of a program to purge alleged noncitizens from state voter registration rolls; and pursuing post-conviction relief for a pro bono client serving a life sentence in a Florida state prison for a noncapital murder.
